Quick answer: An LLP uses the same three-stamp set as a PVT. LTD. Company, except the first stamp reads DESIGNATED PARTNER instead of DIRECTOR. An OPC uses Director, Authorised Signatory and Round stamps, but its name on every stamp should carry the words "One Person Company" in brackets below the name, as required by Section 12(3) of the Companies Act, 2013.
What is the stamp format for an LLP?
There is no government-prescribed design, but the accepted format across banks and offices in India is a rectangular two-line stamp: the full registered LLP name on top and the designation below. The LLP's name must end with "LLP" or "Limited Liability Partnership" exactly as it appears on the Certificate of Incorporation.
| Stamp | Line 1 | Line 2 | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Designated Partner stamp | ABC TRADERS LLP | Designated Partner | Bank forms, cheques, agreements signed by a designated partner |
| Authorised Signatory stamp | ABC TRADERS LLP | Authorised Signatory | Invoices, letters and documents signed by an authorised person |
| Round seal stamp | ABC TRADERS LLP around the edge, city name (optional) in the centre | Official stamping next to signatures, delivery challans, certificates | |
Is it "PARTNER" or "DESIGNATED PARTNER" on an LLP stamp?
Use DESIGNATED PARTNER if the person signing is named as a designated partner on the incorporation documents — they carry statutory responsibility under the LLP Act, 2008 and are usually the signatories on the bank account. Use plain PARTNER only for partners who are not designated partners. Most new LLPs have two designated partners and order the Designated Partner wording.
What is the stamp format for a One Person Company (OPC)?
An OPC's stamps follow the PVT. LTD. format — Director, Authorised Signatory and Round seal — with one important addition. Section 12(3) of the Companies Act, 2013 says that wherever an OPC's name is printed, affixed or engraved, the words "One Person Company" must appear in brackets below the name. A stamp is an engraving of the name, so a correctly made OPC stamp looks like this:
| Line | DIRECTOR stamp text |
|---|---|
| 1 | XYZ (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED |
| 2 | (One Person Company) |
| 3 | Director |
Many local stamp shops miss this line. It's worth checking before you approve a design, because the same stamp will go on bank forms and invoices for years.
Does an LLP or OPC need a Common Seal?
No. An LLP has no statutory Common Seal requirement, and for Companies, including OPCs, the Common Seal has been optional since the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2015. Keep one only if your Articles of Association or LLP agreement specifically requires it. See Is a Company Seal Mandatory in India?
What size should the stamp be?
The size is set by the length of the registered name so that every letter stays readable. A short LLP name fits a compact stamp; a long name like "SHREE GANESH INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPERS LLP" needs a wider die or a two-line name. RUBBER STAMPWALA sizes each stamp to your registered name automatically.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my personal name on an LLP stamp?
Not on the entity stamps. The stamp carries the LLP's registered name and the role (Designated Partner or Authorised Signatory). Your personal signature goes above the stamp impression.
Should the OPC stamp say 'OPC' or 'One Person Company'?
The registered name already contains '(OPC) Private Limited'. Section 12(3) additionally requires the words 'One Person Company' in brackets below the name wherever it is engraved, so include both.
Can one Authorised Signatory stamp be used by several people?
Yes. The Authorised Signatory stamp does not carry a person's name, so anyone authorised by a board or partners' resolution can use it.
What ink colour is standard for LLP and Company stamps?
Blue and violet are the most common for official documents in India; black is also accepted. Choose one colour and keep it consistent across documents.
