Company Rubber Stamp Size Guide: How Big Should Your Stamp Be?

Quick answer: There is no legally fixed size for a Company stamp. The right size is the smallest one that keeps every letter of your registered name clearly readable. Short names fit a compact rectangular stamp; long names need a wider stamp or a name split over two lines. Round seals are usually small, so the name runs around the edge in a single ring.

What decides the size of a Company stamp?

  • Length of the registered name. "AB Labs Private Limited" and "Shree Ganesh Infrastructure Developers Private Limited" can't use the same stamp.
  • Number of lines. A Director stamp has the "For [Name]" line and a designation line. An OPC stamp has an extra "(One Person Company)" line.
  • Where it will be used. Bank forms and cheques have small signature boxes. A stamp that is too big spills over printed fields.

Rectangular vs round: which sizes work?

Stamp Typical shape Size guidance
Director / Designated Partner Rectangle Wide enough for the full name on one or two lines, short in height so it fits a signature box
Authorised Signatory Rectangle Same size as the Director stamp, so documents look consistent
Round seal Circle Small and compact; the name runs around the edge
Common Seal (metal embosser) Circle Usually around 30–40 mm in diameter

Why bigger isn't better

An oversized stamp covers printed text on bank forms, overlaps the MICR band on cheques and forces you to stamp at an angle. Banks sometimes ask for a fresh form when the stamp hides printed fields. Keep the stamp compact and legible.

How RUBBER STAMPWALA sizes your stamp

You don't pick a size. We set it from the length of your registered name so the text stays sharp and the impression still fits standard bank forms. Read Stamp Format for PVT. LTD. Companies and LLP & OPC Stamp Format.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a standard size for a Company stamp in India?

No. Neither the Companies Act nor banks prescribe a size. Legibility is what matters.

Can I abbreviate 'Private Limited' to 'PVT. LTD.' to make the stamp smaller?

It's common and generally accepted, but the safest choice is to match the name exactly as on your Certificate of Incorporation, especially on bank documents.

Should all three stamps be the same size?

The Director and Authorised Signatory stamps should match. The round seal is a different shape and usually smaller.

What if my Company Name is very long?

Split it across two lines. That keeps the stamp compact and every letter readable.
